How to restore a wooden facade?

We recommend two products for the facade, linseed oil stain or linseed oil paint. Linseed oil staingives the wood the desired color, especially the texture of natural wood. The paint provides a uniform shade of the selected color and excellent protection against UV radiation and moisture.

Restoration with stain.

  • If the surface has previously been treated with Paint Eco linseed oil stain, then restoration is simple and does not require large investments. Sequence:
    • Wash off dirt and dust. You can use special detergents or prepare a mild alkali from household soap.
    • Apply a layer of restoring stain. The oil should be applied in a thin layer and after 30 minutes, if the oil has not absorbed into the wood, wipe it with a cloth or paper towel.
  • If the surface has previously been painted with coatings that form a film or peel off:
    • Then it must be sanded down to clean wood before oiling.
    • Dust should be removed.
    • Apply two coats of stain, allowing each coat to dry, wiping off the oil after each coat.
    • If the surface has been oiled with oils from other manufacturers, then before repainting, it is recommended to perform a test oiling. 50 ml color sample testers are provided for this.

Restoration with linseed oil paint.

  • If the surface has previously been treated with Paint Eco linseed oil paint, then restoration is simple and does not require large investments. Sequence:
    • Assess the facade of the building. Often, it is not necessary to repaint the entire facade. Usually, linseed oil paint has a slightly glossy sheen. If, for example, the surface has become drier on the south side, then repaint only this part of the building.
    • Wash off dirt and dust.
    • Apply a restoration layer.
  • If the facade has previously been painted with alkyd or other types of paints that form a film and have started to peel.
    • Assess the facade of the building. If possible, you can clean the old paint, but if this is not possible, then follow the instructions below.
    • Clean off loose paint parts. Areas where the paint does not peel off, lightly sand with sandpaper, grain 80 - 120.
    • Remove dust and wash the surface.
    • Prime areas where the paint has peeled off. You can use linseed oil varnish or Paint Eco linseed oil primer.
    • Apply linseed oil paint in two coats, allowing each coat to dry. Apply the paint with a brush in as thin a layer as possible, rubbing it lightly into the surface.

Renovating a wooden facade with Paint Eco linseed oil coatings is a good and environmentally friendly solution, because linseed oil penetrates deeply into the wood and the mineral pigment in its composition protects against the effects of UV rays from the sun. The coating does not form a film, is breathable and protects the wood from damage. You may need a little patience, because this paint will dry a little longer, but this natural coating will last a long time and will please any building
owner.
