A terrace is a very important place in a person's everyday life. It is the threshold of a person's soul, a place to be with oneself, family and friends.
The question is often asked - how to properly renovate a terrace?
Renovating a terrace can be a simple cosmetic improvement or a complete "overhaul" - it all depends on its condition.
First, assess its condition:
- Replace all rotten or severely damaged boards
- Make sure that the screws or nails are firmly fastened
Clean it thoroughly:
- Wipe off dirt and leaves
- Wash with a high-pressure washer (carefully so as not to damage the wood)
- Use special terrace cleaning products to remove mold and old coating
Next, assess what finishing material has been used previously.
- If Paint Eco linseed oil stain for terraces has previously been used on the surface, then renovation is quite simple. Apply a renovating layer with a brush or a special oiling applicator. After about 20 min. wipe off the oil that has not absorbed into the wood with a cloth.
- If linseed oil paint has been used previously, then apply a restoring coat of paint.
- If another coating that forms a film has been used previously and the surface is
planned to be treated with linseed oil stain or linseed oil paint, then before the
restoring coat, sand the surface and then apply two coats of stain or paint. For the first coat, it is recommended to dilute the stain or paint with turpentine
approximately 10% of the volume. In the second coat, both coatings are not diluted by applying a thicker coat of oil. - The second coat can be applied after the first coat has dried, but if possible, it canalso be applied after a month, so that the first coat “lives” in the sun, rain, wind and under load. After such a period, it will have better adhesion to the surface.
- We recommend that the linseed oil stain or paint be applied in the thinnest
possible layer. If you use stain, wipe each layer after application, about 20 minutes, so that the oil remains in the wood. Linseed oil paint is not wiped off.
Have a sunny rest on the terrace!
