Hard wax oil is a superior choice for protecting wooden floors and other surfaces. Easy to restore, economical, and breathable coating. It never cracks or peels. The combination of oil and natural hard waxes offers exceptional wear resistance while guarding against moisture and stains. With its easy application, it creates a distinctive wood look. Moreover, the oiled surface provides a warm and pleasant touch.

Consumption:15-18 m²/l on pine/spruce, 35-40 m²/l on hardwood (oak/ash), depending on the surface’s absorbency.

How to use

Shake and stir the container well before use and during the oiling process.

If you are oiling the floor, divide the work surface into sections and apply the oil to each section sequentially To achieve seamless tinting, the surface should be smooth and free of defects. The pigment can accentuate any imperfections on the wooden surface.

Apply the hard wax oil as evenly as possible across the surface. Allow the oil to soak for 15-20 minutes, then carefully remove any excess residue the wood has not absorbed.

Ensure that the oil is fully absorbed into the wood and feels dry to the touch after removing any residual oil. Be cautious not to let excess oil dry on the surface, as it may create shiny patches.

After 24 hours* apply a second coat as thinly as possible. Carefully wipe off any excess oil residue.

*Before applying a second coat, make sure the first coat has fully dried. Avoid washing the floor or placing carpeting on it during the first week after treatment. During the resurfacing process, sanding is not required. Typically, one layer is sufficient for surface renewal.

WARNING! Cloths/pads soaked with oil can ignite spontaneously due to heat build-up! Therefore clean them immediately after use or store them under water. The product itself is not self-igniting.

TEST IT FIRST! Keep in mind that every wood is unique and may react differently depending on its species, age and treatment. That is why we recommend treating a sample first!

The hard wax oil is made from our own cold-pressed and specially heated linseed oil, a combination of five different micronized waxes (including carnauba wax), resins, and a drying agent. The product has 0% harmful fumes. The product has 0% harmful fumes.

Where Do you produce?

Our family-owned oil factory is located in the small town of Iecava in southern Latvia. We are the largest producer of cold-pressed vegetable oils in the Baltics.

How long does the linseed oil stain coating last, and when is renewal needed?

Properly applied linseed oil stain in two coats on a vertical planed surface lasts on average 4-5 years, and on finely sawn wood, it lasts 5-8 years.

Restoration is simple – just clean the surface and apply a new coat. There's no need to sand off the old coating.

What to do if the oil has been applied too thickly, isn't drying, and the surface feels sticky?

If less than 48 hours have passed, try wiping off the excess oil with pine turpentine. If it's been a week or two, try to use white spirit. If that doesn’t work, the surface will need to be sanded and re-oiled. For personalized advice, please contact us at info@painteco.com and include pictures or a video.

When should I apply 2 coats, and when is 1 coat enough?

One coat is enough indoors on low-traffic surfaces like ceilings, walls, carvings, crafts, and toys. For outdoors, we recommend two coats. For example, apply the first coat to the facade boards while on the ground, and the second after the house is cladded. This helps protect the edges of the boards, screw areas, and more from moisture.

Do I need to use primer?

You can use a primer, but keep in mind that it may lighten the stain tone. It's best to apply the linseed oil stain in two coats. We typically recommend using a primer with linseed oil paint, not the stain.

How to speed up drying?

To speed up the drying of the stain, you can dilute it with turpentine by 10%-15%. It's important to carefully wipe off excess oil, ensure good ventilation, and maintain a temperature of around 20°C (+/- 2°C). In cold and damp air, the coating dries much slower.

Can the products be mixed together?

All our oils are fully compatible. Customers often mix them to create new shades or dilute them with our colorless products to achieve a lighter tone.
