"FINISH" is a professional coating of oil and natural hard waxes designed for high-stress surfaces. It exhibits excellent compatibility with other Paint Eco products and offers easy application using a microfibre roller without the need of intermediate sanding. The result is a matte coating with a shorter drying time and outstanding wear resistance. Suitable for floors, stairs, furniture, cork, and more.

Consumption:18-25 m2/l for the first coat and 30-40 m2/l for the second coat, depending on the surface's absorbency.

How to use

Shake and stir the container well before use.

Use “FINISH” as a top coat over our stain, hard wax oil, or boiled linseed oil.
Before applying “FINISH”, make sure the previous coat has fully dried.

Apply “FINISH” as evenly and thinly as possible across the surface using a microfibre roller, without wiping it off.

Applying the top coating too thickly can result in longer drying times or sticky residue and wasteful product use.

Avoid washing the floor or placing carpeting on it during the first week after treatment.

WARNING! Cloths/pads soaked with oil can ignite spontaneously due to heat build-up! Therefore clean them immediately after use or store them under water. The product itself is not self-igniting.

TEST IT FIRST! Keep in mind that every wood is unique and may react differently depending on its species, age and treatment. That is why we recommend treating a sample first!

The hard wax top coat Finish is an oil/varnish hybrid. This product is designed for conditions where the hardness and protection of a varnish-like coating are required. The finish coating contains specially processed linseed oil, a combination of micronized waxes and resins, a matting agent, a drying agent, and a solvent.

Where Do you produce?

Our family-owned oil factory is located in the small town of Iecava in southern Latvia. We are the largest producer of cold-pressed vegetable oils in the Baltics.

How long does the linseed oil stain coating last, and when is renewal needed?

Properly applied linseed oil stain in two coats on a vertical planed surface lasts on average 4-5 years, and on finely sawn wood, it lasts 5-8 years.

Restoration is simple – just clean the surface and apply a new coat. There's no need to sand off the old coating.

What to do if the oil has been applied too thickly, isn't drying, and the surface feels sticky?

If less than 48 hours have passed, try wiping off the excess oil with pine turpentine. If it's been a week or two, try to use white spirit. If that doesn’t work, the surface will need to be sanded and re-oiled. For personalized advice, please contact us at info@painteco.com and include pictures or a video.

When should I apply 2 coats, and when is 1 coat enough?

One coat is enough indoors on low-traffic surfaces like ceilings, walls, carvings, crafts, and toys. For outdoors, we recommend two coats. For example, apply the first coat to the facade boards while on the ground, and the second after the house is cladded. This helps protect the edges of the boards, screw areas, and more from moisture.

Do I need to use primer?

You can use a primer, but keep in mind that it may lighten the stain tone. It's best to apply the linseed oil stain in two coats. We typically recommend using a primer with linseed oil paint, not the stain.

How to speed up drying?

To speed up the drying of the stain, you can dilute it with turpentine by 10%-15%. It's important to carefully wipe off excess oil, ensure good ventilation, and maintain a temperature of around 20°C (+/- 2°C). In cold and damp air, the coating dries much slower.

Can the products be mixed together?

All our oils are fully compatible. Customers often mix them to create new shades or dilute them with our colorless products to achieve a lighter tone.
