How do PaintEco products for interior and exterior use differ?

Important! The product label features an icon indicating whether the product is

intended for interior or exterior use.

We are often asked about the differences between our interior and exterior products.

Key differences:

• Protection against solar UV rays depends on the amount of pigment in the oil.
  Therefore, pigment-free oils—such as boiled linseed oil (varnish), cold-pressed
  linseed oil, hard wax oil, and sauna bench oil—are intended solely for interior use.
  Outdoors, they can be used as a primer under paint or stain.
  • Tinted hard wax oils are intended for interior use because they contain a
    relatively small amount of pigment.
  • Stain is a tinted oil suitable for both interior and exterior use. The exception is the "Jasmine" white shade, which is for interior use only; as a natural finish without additives, it lacks sufficient resistance to weather and UV exposure.
    
  • Paint is a coating suitable for both interior and exterior use. It offers high UV resistance.
  • Tar oils are intended exclusively for exterior use because they contain added solvents.
  • Another product intended solely for interior use is light linseed oil varnish, which contains a small amount of white pigment.
    
• Anti-mold additives.
  • Anti-mold additives are included in products intended for exterior use.
  • Interior products—such as hard wax oils, varnish, light varnish, and "Jasmīns" stain—do not contain these additives.
